Book Your 2026 Wildebeest Migration Safari

You’ve done the research. You know the Great Migration is the reason to come to the Mara between July and October. Here’s what you actually need to know to book it right.

  • When to go: Herds start crossing into the Masai Mara from mid-July 2026. The Mara River crossings — the ones you’ve seen in every documentary — peak between early August and mid-September, with activity continuing into early October.
  • Where to stay: You want a camp close to the river crossing points, not a 90-minute drive away. Mara Siligi sits minutes from Talek and Mpuaai gates, putting you inside the action faster than camps further from the reserve.
  • How far ahead to book: Riverfront-adjacent camps for August and September routinely sell out 6 to 12 months in advance. If you’re reading this for a 2026 trip, the sooner you lock in your dates, the more choice you have.
  • What we do differently: Our guides are Masai who grew up reading these plains. They talk daily with other guides and camps to track herd movement, so when a crossing is building, you’re already on your way, not stuck at the wrong bend of the river.

Frequently Asked Questions

01. What is included in your Masai Mara safari packages?

Our packages include accommodation, daily guided game drives, park entry fees, all meals, and the services of a local Masai guide. Optional add-ons — hot air balloon rides, cultural village visits, photography sessions, and transfers — can be added to any package.

Yes. Every package is a starting point, not a fixed product. Tell us your dates, group size, budget, and what experiences matter most — and we will build something around you. Contact us directly for a personalised itinerary and quote.

All packages are based at Mara Siligi Camp — 10 eco tents with ensuite bathrooms, private decks, hot showers, and solar power. Standard tents for solo travellers and couples. Spacious family tents for groups travelling with children.

Yes. Our family-friendly packages are specifically designed for children — flexible drive timing, family tents, children’s meals, and an electric-fenced camp. Our guides are experienced with younger guests and adjust the pace accordingly.

We recommend a minimum of 3 nights. Four or five nights gives you a much fuller experience — better odds of witnessing the Great Migration, more flexibility with drive timing, and time to slow down between drives. Our 2–3 day packages are ideal for those with limited time.

The Masai Mara has one of the highest Big Five densities of any reserve in Africa. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino sightings are common. Our location near Mpuaai Gate puts you close to corridors where these animals are most active.

We use 4×4 game drive vehicles with open roofs for photography and wildlife viewing. Vehicles accommodate small groups — we do not run overcrowded drives. Private vehicle options are available on all packages.

Yes. We have standard tents specifically suited to solo travellers, and our small camp means you are never lost in a crowd. Solo packages are available on request — contact us and we will match you with private drive depending on your preference.

Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-specific meals are all available. Let us know your requirements when you book and our kitchen team will prepare accordingly throughout your stay.

The Masai Mara wildebeest migration runs from July to October, with the Mara River crossings peaking between early August and mid-September 2026. For the best chance of witnessing a crossing, book a minimum 4-night stay, a longer window means more crossing opportunities, since crossings depend on the herd, not the calendar. August dates are already limited; we recommend confirming your 2026 migration safari now.

By air: daily flights from Wilson Airport to Ol Kiombo or Keekorok airstrips — approximately 1 hour. By road: 5–6 hours via Narok. We can arrange all transfers from Nairobi as part of your package. Just let us know your preference when booking.

Herds typically start arriving in the Masai Mara from mid-July 2026, with the main Mara River crossings expected between early August and mid-September. Some crossings continue into early October. Exact timing depends on rainfall, so we recommend a stay of at least 4 nights to maximise your chances.

Pricing depends on package length, tent type, and travel dates, peak migration months (August–September) carry higher park fees than the rest of the year. Contact us with your dates and group size and we’ll send a personalised quote within 24 hours, itemised with no hidden costs.
